Dedicated to the study, exploration, and appreciation of natural history in the Santa Ynez Valley region.

ABOUT US

Founded in 2000, the Santa Ynez Valley Natural History Society is a member-supported nonprofit organization that provides environmental education through public lectures, field trips, and workshops in the Santa Ynez Valley region. We believe that experiencing and understanding the natural world leads to greater appreciation, knowledge, and conservation of biodiversity.

Our Goals

  • Provide free or low-cost natural history education with an emphasis on our region’s plants, animals, geology, and ecology
  • Support local student natural history projects through awards, outreach, and educational opportunities
  • Collaborate with other organizations in the area with similar values to provide natural history education to our community
  • Serve as a resource for information regarding the natural history of the Santa Ynez Valley
